On friday I attended Hustlemania, a talk by Gavin Strange (Jam Factory) and James White (Signal Noise). It was located in the mirrored ball Planetarium in the @Bristol science centre. An exclusive and intimate venue where the talk slides could be projected over 360 degree domed ceiling.
The premise of the evening was to focus on how they have “hustled” to get where they wanted, working on projects they love and having fun at the same time, even if it was a silly idea to begin with.
Gav was up first to discuss his multiple extra curricular projects and creative outlets from the past few months. He’d just returned from OFFF festival, having created these amazing title sequences.
It was motivational to hear about the multitude of projects he works on out of hours and proves that anything is possible if you try hard enough.
Next up was James, who was over in Europe from Canada for a few weeks. His talked showed how his creative abilities developed from childhood and how that influences his current working practice.
“Never overlook a silly idea.”
It was an awesome evening and I was glad to have bagged a ticket early before it sold out. I look forward to the next one!
